Meditation in Yoga

According to Indian culture, yoga is meant to be a path to enlightenment. It is a key element in most Indian religions including: Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism. Different postures in yoga are meant to unite the body as one.

The four main yoga styles are: the Karma, Bhakti, Jnana, and Raja. All of them involve some elements of meditation.

Yoga helps to enhance the flexibility of the body. The increased flexibility gained from doing yoga postures enables one to endure the discomfort in maintaining the same position for as little as 5 minuntes to an hour or more.

Yoga increases the available energy for meditation as it relaxes the body while preparing itself for meditation. Yoga leads to mindfulness as it helps you to be aware of your body. This is an important element to meditation and in self realization.

Benefits of Meditation in Yoga

Meditation assists us to understand our own minds and helps to turn negative things into positive things. Yoga helps to relax and calm our mind and body. It helps us to be aware of our joints and different body parts especially the muscles and organs. This helps to calm our mind and let us slow down our emotions.

Our bodies will feel more calm and relaxed once our emotions are slowed down. Yoga helps to enhance the meditation experience by keeping the body calm and relax.
